Time: 26-Jan-2011

Firework photography is easy to create what you need are only:

- Get a good position
- Tripod: To avoid hand shake
- Suggest to use cable release or use self-timing release mode.
- Cable release are strongly suggest where you can control the time when to open the shutter and stop it manually.  Else use self-timing release mode and set to Shutter-priority mode with 2-3 sec.
- Aperture set to 18-20 to increase the depth of field
- ISO: 100

Low Light and Night Photography

Low light photography is easy to create what you need are only:

- Tripod: To avoid hand shake
- Suggest to use cable release or use self-timing release mode.
- ISO between 100-250.  Too hight like 800 may cause 'noise'
- Using shutter-priority 8-30sec

HDR (High-Dynamic-Range) Imaging

Location: Melbourne

Above are HDR imaging, where minimum photos from 3 diff exposure (Under, Normal and Over) are use to create.  It will reproduce all the color that not available in normal exposure.  HDR is not hard to create, what U need:
- Tripod: To avoid hand shake
- Suggest to use cable release or use self-timing release mode.
- Diff exposure photos can be create using bracketing.  Please refer to camera manual for more detail.
- For Nikon D7000, if auto ISO sensitivity control is enabled in modes P, S and A the camera will automatically vary ISO sensitivity for optimum exposure when the limits of the camera exposure system are exceeded.
- Suggest to fix the ISO value and select Aperture-priority priority mode, so difference exposure photos will be create base on diff shutter speed while maintain the same aperture value.
- Using Photoshop CS3+ or PhotoMatixPro to generate HDR photo.  Suggest using PhotoMatrix as it have stronger 'ghost' (moving object) eliminate feature and able provide more options like smoothing the result.  However try not to use to color adjustment (e.g. contract) function at PhotoMatrix as Adobe Camera Raw provide more powerful post-processing  adjustment.
- Save the HDR in tif file to maintain more detail for post-processing adjustment.
- Using Adobe Camera Raw or Adobe Light room for post-processing adjustment.
- If retouching is necessary, suggest to use Photoshop after post-processing adjustment.

Note: Nikon D7000 come with build in 'HDR' feature where it will shoot 3 exposure and combine to single photos.  Refer to page 152 on the manual.  However the result is not able compare with PhotoMatix.
